Parent Page

Dear Parents,
I look forward to working with your children in the library this year. Each week we will learn how to use libraries to find reading material for personal reading and for discovering new information. Students will also explore ways to use different types of books and technology to become better researchers. In addition, we will discuss Internet safety and how to use online sources appropriately. My main goal is to help all students develop a love of reading.  Please feel free to view the Morris School District's Library Curriculum

The most common question I'm asked by parents is: "How can I get my child to read more?" I have been a school librarian since 1999, and I can tell you that the children who are the strongest readers all seem to have one thing in common - they come from families where they read with their parents and they see their parents reading. Time is a valuable commodity, and sometimes it seems impossible to find a few extra minutes in each day for reading. If you are truly interested in helping your child to become a stronger reader, try to spend about 20 minutes each day reading together. It really does make a difference.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Sincerely,
