One of the best places to start is the encyclopedia.  Stop by the library and use the print version.  Or head to the computer and go to Encyclopedia Britannica Online, a database all the libraries in the district have.  Click on the caption to access.
If you need a username/password, check with your homeroom teacher or Mrs. Murphy in the library.
